Even on a potato of a system, you are going to be able to upscale the resolution to greater than 1080p and crank up the MSAA. Dump your LEGALLY PURCHASED ps2 dvd to an. Not sure if others wrote this but hands down the way to go is emulation. The visible enemies was interesting, but not my personal preference. Also this is Dragon Quest - I actually prefer random encounters as it racks up the tension as you limp back to town trying to preserve your last Chimera Wing for a real emergency. DQVIII is supposed to be a storybook come to life, and seeing it as a blurry pixelated mess just didnt work. The nerfed graphics and sound just ruined it for me. I also eagerly bought the 3DS version as soon as it came out what I thought would be the "definitive" edition. The localization here absolutely bringts the characters to life! Also, once you hear the orchestrated OST on the PS2 you will cringe whenever you hear the midi soundtrack again. but this is one game where the VA completely transforms the experience. I admit it looked great, but once I tried the PS2 version I could never go back. My first playthrough of DQ VIII was the IOS port on an ipad. Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree with you here.
