(I just saw that Sweetwater is blowing out the UCA202 and UCA222 for $10 each FWIW! )Īll that said, I often find using an app kind of fiddly since you have to set it up every time you want to use it for an oscilloscope, unless you want to dedicate an iPad to your modular setup which is kind of expensive and you'd be better off just buying a "real" digital oscilloscope for probably less money? Or, you might consider getting the smallest powered case possible that will work with your O’Tool, like maybe a Doepfer mini beauty case or one of the smaller 4ms Pod cases and just have it off to the side? - Mac: SignalScope X is now a Universal macOS app, including native support for both Intel processors and Apple. I previously used a Behringer UCA202 which worked OK but not as well. I use the (now discontinued) Line6 SonicPort and it works pretty well. Most cheap little USB/Lightning type interfaces are designed for audio and don't work so well for slow CV (if at all) and causes audio rate square waves to not look square etc, and you often have to attenuate modular signals a lot before hitting the interface to avoid clipping. One downside of using oscilloscope apps with an iPhone or iPad etc is getting a good input connection. I used the Onyx3 Oscilloscope in parts of this video:

It's also nice but doesn't look as pretty and has far fewer features but it works fine and was VERY inexpensive, like free or at least under $10 if I remember correctly? The other one I have is the Onyx3 Oscilloscope. I used the Faber SignalScope app in parts of this video: I'm currently using the $100 "SignalScope Advanced 2020" version. I've only purchased it twice, once for $75 like10 years ago and then again a couple years ago.

or until they decide an Apple iOS upgrade isn't compatible with older versions of SignalScope and you have to buy a new version.

They have a somewhat confusing collection of versions IMHO, you can pay a monthly fee depending on what features you want, or there are three one time fee versions, $20, $100, or $300 and they will work fforever. The nicest looking and most capable one I have is the Faber Acoustical SignalScope, and of course it's the most expensive. I’m in a hybrid setup, and I’d love to reclaim 8hp (I have an O’Tool) if it makes sense.
